Deputy Principal: Student Well-being and Discipline

Abbotts High School Pretoria East invites applications from experienced and dynamic school leaders for the position of Deputy Principal: Student Well-being and Discipline. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping a structured, values-driven school environment that balances high expectations of discipline with progressive student support practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the school’s student well-being and discipline strategy as a member of the School Management Team
  • Implement and uphold the Code of Conduct, ensuring consistency, fairness and compliance
  • Oversee student discipline, including case management, hearings, and restorative interventions
  • Drive proactive well-being systems and early intervention strategies
  • Manage parent engagement on student-related matters with professionalism and sound judgement
  • Lead student leadership structures and initiatives that promote positive school culture
  • Oversee student-focused events, outreach and social responsibility programmes
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and risk management protocols
  • Use data to monitor behaviour trends and inform decision-making
  • Contribute to broader school leadership, innovation and stakeholder engagement

  • Proven ability to manage complex behavioural and pastoral matters

Requirements & Experience

  • SACE registered
  • Recognised Degree and/or 4-year post-matric Teaching Qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Demonstrated insight or experience in student discipline, pastoral care or school management
  • Experience in an IEB/independent school is advantageous
